Course Overviews

  • Designed to equip worship leaders and musicians with the spiritual foundation, musical skill, and leadership tools needed to serve the Church with excellence and humility. Grounded in Scripture, this course emphasizes a biblical philosophy of worship and teamwork, cultivating healthy team dynamics and Christlike character.

Students will grow in their ability to lead worship confidently, both musically and spiritually, while learning to flow with a band, respond to the Holy Spirit, and foster an atmosphere of genuine congregational engagement. Through practical instruction, students will sharpen their craft on their primary instrument or voice, curate effective setlists, and lead rehearsals with clarity and purpose. This course prepares students not just for the stage, but for a life of servant leadership, intentional discipleship, and Spirit-led ministry in the local church and beyond.

  • Worship is not limited to music or church services, it is the purpose for which we were created. It is a whole-life response to the Lord, rooted in love, awe, and surrender. Worship flows from hearts captivated by God’s beauty and glory, desiring to minister to Him with joy.

This two-semester course explores the Biblical story of worship from Genesis to Revelation. We will trace how worship shapes identity and vocation, from Eden to the New Creation. But this is more than a theology class. It’s an invitation to encounter. Through Scripture, prayer, and reflection, we will create space for the Holy Spirit to bring transformation, healing, and purpose.

Theology is more than study. It’s a conversation with God. We gather not just to learn, but to meet with the Living God.

  • Exploring how God models the creative process in Scripture, we’ll learn ways to partner with the Holy Spirit from ideation to formation to execution to collaboration, and finally, the completion of creative works.

  • Diving into tone, technique, fluency, dynamics, and musical choices, students will develop a strong harmonic and rhythmic foundation, all within the context of serving a worship environment. Students will learn to play skillfully and technically, while still supporting the song and creating a space for people to engage with God.

  • True leadership involves receiving from Jesus, reveling in Him, and revealing Him to the world. We will look closely at Jesus’ character, ministry, and leadership throughout Scripture, tracing how He abided in the Father, lived tethered to the Word, embraced His God-given identity, obeyed and submitted, loved extravagantly, suffered faithfully, and discipled and developed others.

Students will be invited to cultivate the secret place of communion, grow in spiritual authority through intimacy and holiness, and practice leadership that looks like Jesus. This course is not simply about acquiring leadership skills, it is about being formed in Christ’s image for the sake of those we lead in life.

  • Focusing on developing a strong musical foundation, students will form a basic understanding of the “nuts and bolts” of song construction. Topics covered will include: song analysis, melody, harmony, rhythm, listening exercises, major scale, relative minor scale, intervals, chords, Nashville number system, and transposition. These concepts are useful in any musical context and can help spur on new and creative musical approaches. This course is meant to encourage, empower, and instill confidence.

  • Building upon your existing foundation in music theory and musicianship, this course will equip students to apply theory directly in practical contexts such as songwriting, arranging, and spontaneous music-making. The theory component emphasizes in-depth song analysis, advanced harmonic functions, and creative applications in modern worship music. The musicianship component develops ear training, rhythmic fluency, and ensemble skills, with particular attention to arranging instruments and responding musically in the moment. While advancing to new concepts, we will also review the essentials in all 12 keys; notes, intervals, scales, chords, and the Nashville Number System, ensuring fluency across tonal centers.

By the end of the course, you will not only understand the theoretical framework behind modern worship music but also gain the tools to enhance existing arrangements or create new ones with confidence and creativity.
